DANCE TEAM GENERAL INFORMATION

AUDITIONS for our Jazz, Hip Hop, Tap, and ShowcaseTeams will be open for any new students registering or transferring during the year. Generally, auditions and choreography for some dance teams are held during the summer months for the coming year. 

Selection will primarily be a thoughtfull process undertaken by Lisa Wilhelm Celeste.  Placement will depend, in large part, on technique. However, dance is an expressive art form and in addition to technique, the dancer needs to express their "heart".

Jay'J will infuse his technique in stylin' our more devoted hip-hop dancers during the summer as well as throughout the year. Placement on our hip-hop performance team will be determined by commitment and freedom of expression of one's own style.

Cassandra Ream will again be choreographing and working with some of our advanced dancers on solos, duets, trios, and showcase dances in either contemporary, lyrical, or musical theatre.  She will be at the studio during our summer dance intensive, July 6 thru July 23, to work on choreography.

Kim Ranney will also be choreographing and working with some of our tap dancers. Selection for our tap team is more by observation of commitment and talent by both Kim and Lisa during the year in class.

TEAM CLASS REQUIREMENTS

PeeWee (minimum 5 hrs) - 1 hr ballet, 1 hr jazz, 1 hr hip-hop, 1 hr dance team, 1 hr elective

PreJunior (minimum 6 hrs) - 2 hrs ballet, 1 hr turns/jumps/leaps, 1 hr hip-hop, 1 hr dance team, 1 hr elective

Junior (minimum 7 hrs) - 2 hrs ballet, 1 hr turns/jumps/leaps, 1 hr hip-hop, 1 hr dance team, 2 hrs elective

Senior (minimum 8 hrs) - 3 hrs ballet, 1 hr turns/jumps/leaps, 1 hr hip-hop, 1 hr dance team, 2 hrs elective

Hip-Hop (minimum 6 hrs) - 2 hrs hip-hop, 1 hr turns/jumps/leaps, 1/2 hr dance team, 3 hrs elective
